Getting Through The Days: A Day In The Life of A Doula Mom

Do you want to know what keeps me up at night?

I wonder if I’m good at my job as a doula and childbirth educator. I know that I’m good at my craft. But am I too far removed from the days when my milk leaked everywhere, I showered every four days, and sobbed at the dining room table with postpartum depression? Am I too far removed from knowing what it takes to be a parent, a partner, and an actual person with my own identity? Am I so far removed that I don’t remember the chaos of sleep deprivation, borderline starvation unless it came pre-cut and prepared, or the pain of the first bowel movement postpartum? 

The universe has a funny way of answering my questions.
